Chapter 63 El, Does It Hurt
The bedroom was deathly silent, without the slightest sound or sign that anyone was inside.
Skylar's chest tightened. He immediately flicked on the light but saw no one.
The windows and doors were all sealed shut, and the metallic scent of blood was thick in the air. Blood streaked across the off-white carpet, running from the doorway to a spot beneath the bed he couldn't see.
His breathing quickened. For the first time, he hoped Elaine had managed to escape.
Yet, that wasn't possible. Every exit was locked. Not even a rat could have escaped, let alone a grown woman.
His legs gave out for a second. After a brief moment of shock, he snapped out of it and rushed forward. Elaine was lying on the floor, right beside the edge of the bed. The urn she had been holding had slipped from her hands, now wedged between her body and the bed.
Her ghostly pale complexion made the bright red blood at her lips and on the floor stand out in horrifying contrast.
