Chapter 84 Disappointed He Didn't Get Hit Harder
After Skylar left the hospital, Elaine, who was drained from their argument and slightly sedated by the medication in her IV, quickly drifted off to sleep.
But once asleep, she had nightmares. In one, she was being pushed off that mountaintop. In another, the baby she lost stared at her and cried. She even dreamed she had died, and Agatha was sobbing at her bedside.
The nightmares weighed on her, making it hard to breathe. Her entire body was soaked in sweat. She vaguely felt a touch on her forehead. She couldn't tell if she was dreaming or awake when she suddenly jolted upright.
Her eyes opened straight into a man's eyes, far too close to her.
Truly startled, Elaine grabbed the blanket and sat up abruptly. Her forehead slammed into Marcus' head with a thud.
Marcus immediately stepped back and apologized. "Are you okay?"
