Elaine sat at the edge of the bed, playing on her phone. When she heard Skylar, she looked up. "You might want to consider that maybe I did it. Since you're asking me, isn't that what you're trying to imply?"
Skylar frowned, clearly displeased. "You know I'm not suspecting you. The police have already checked the car. Someone tampered with the brakes. They were pushed to the point of almost total failure. When I started driving, they were still fine. But when I reached the intersection and hit the brakes, they gave up."
