Chapter 152
Isabelle sat in the backseat, dead silent, her face showing zero emotion. She didn't say a word the whole time, just stared blankly ahead.
Only when the car had driven far enough that Rowan's figure disappeared from view did she finally speak.
"Could you take me to the nearest hotel?" she said to the driver, her voice calm.
It was ten o'clock at night. The city was quiet and still.
A sleek silver BMW slowly pulled into the Carrington estate and came to a stop near the main house.
Dexter killed the engine and turned to glance at the passenger seat-only then did he notice Celestia had nodded off.
He flicked on the interior light. Under its soft, yellow glow, Celestia leaned against the window, sound asleep. Her bare face was quietly radiant, a natural rosy tint in her cheeks, and the faint smile playing on her lips made her look so at peace. Innocent. Almost like a sleeping angel straight from a painting-it was hard to look away.
Dexter stared for a bit too long.
