Chapter 260
After that day, Celestia Brooks didn’t say another word to Jareth Carrington. Even when he brought her food, she didn’t touch it. Just quietly said, “You should go.” Then turned over on the bed, closed her eyes, and wouldn’t even glance his way again.
Jareth had so much guilt bottled up inside, wanting to explain everything to her, but when it got to the point of actually saying something, the words just wouldn’t come out. So in the end, he just sighed and left. Still, he couldn’t bring himself to walk too far. He stayed right outside the hospital room the whole night, just in case.
The next day.
A long, heavy downpour wrapped up the pitch-black night, and in its place came a sky so blue and clear it looked unreal.
Inside the spacious, high-end hospital room, the faint smell of disinfectant lingered in the air. Everything was so still, so quiet, like time had hit pause on the entire room.
On the white hospital bed, Isabelle Ryan finally opened her eyes after sleeping through the night.
