Chapter 59
The moment the thought hit him, all the color drained from Henry' face. His gaze on Isabelle grew heavier, filled with a kind of pain he hadn't felt in years.
To be clear, it wasn't that he'd met her before-she just looked far too much like someone. The one woman he had once loved to the point of madness, yet no matter how hard he tried, he could never truly let her go.
Standing nearby, Celestia noticed her father sinking deeper into silence. Worried, she asked softly, "Dad, are you okay?"
Her voice pulled Henry out of his memories. His eyes, slightly vacant, finally found hers. Caught off guard for a second, he quickly gathered himself. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said, nodding.
Isabelle looked at him, confused by his reaction. But she didn't push it any further. Flashing an easy smile, she said in a gentle tone, "Mr. Brooks, from today I'll be staying here for a few days, if that's alright?"
"Huh?" Her words pulled Henry's focus back to her, and when their eyes met again, he froze.
