Chapter 10

Just then, someone slammed open the doors of the banquet hall. A few police officers swarmed in, demanding, "Who's Sadie Jordan?" The guests all looked at Sadie in unison. The police officers strode over to Sadie and handcuffed her. "We received a report that you're a suspect in a murder case. Please follow us back to the station for interrogation." The color drained from Sadie's face. She shook her head vigorously and tried to free herself from the police officers' grasp. Tears streamed down her face as she wailed, "I didn't do it! I don't want to go to the police station! Save me, Connor!" She looked at Connor pleadingly, but he was still trying to call Winona. When they made eye contact, his eyes were frosted over with a thick layer of ice. She had never seen him look at her that way before. She looked at Zack next, but he simply shot a cool look at her. In the next second, he averted his gaze indifferently. Hopelessness and resentment filled Sadie's eyes. She had no choice b
