“Oh, but I must say,” Jacob remarked, his gaze thoughtful, “that boy has potential. His mannerisms—there’s something distinct about him.”
Franklin nodded, smiling proudly. “Yes, I know. Aaron’s a creative visionary. He has the drive to shine brighter than most.”
Jacob leaned back, eyes narrowing slightly. “Your father clearly had a sharp eye. Where did you find him?”
“In Italy,” Franklin said. “Dad met Aaron there. His aunt was struggling financially, so she sent him to an orphanage.”
“What about his parents?” Jacob asked.
Franklin’s expression turned solemn. “I heard his mother died during childbirth. His father never came back. It seemed like Aaron was unexpected… like his mother was just a momentary pleasure for his father.”
Jacob’s eyes narrowed sharply at that. His jaw tightened.
Franklin continued, “But I believe his parents were special. That’s why Aaron is the way he is.”
