Chapter 66
Charles leaned back on the couch. “So, Jacob, how’s business going?”
Jacob nodded. “It’s going well. I’ve started thinking about involving Joe too. He’ll take over once I leave the country.”
Charles gave an approving nod. “Makes sense. But you should’ve mentored him more closely. Look at Aaron—he learned everything during his academic years, but he still turned out sharp.”
Jacob turned to him. Should I ask now? He cleared his throat. “Aaron’s impressive, no doubt. He must’ve inherited that brilliance from his parents.”
Charles’s expression shifted. His eyes narrowed. “I don’t know about his father,” he said with a flat tone. “But his mother—she was exceptional. Brave. Intelligent. She raised Aaron on her own.”
Jacob leaned in slightly. “What happened to his father?”
Charles scowled. “Don’t ask. The man was a coward. Ran from his responsibilities. Aaron’s strength comes from his mother alone.”
Jacob nodded slowly. “She must’ve been remarkable. What was her name?”
Charles raised a brow.
