Chapter 18
Stunned, Nadia turned to look at Jasper.
The contours of Jasper's profile seemed to soften a little in the night. He kept his gaze straight ahead as he continued, "I met you many years ago at the racecourse in Bayfort. How old were you back then? 17? 18?
"You were there with your father and his mistress' daughter. Your so-called sister tried to set you up to embarrass you, but what did you do in the end?"
He let out a low chuckle filled with nostalgia. "You rode your horse right over the obstacles and won against that person who looked down on you. You were laughing arrogantly on horseback, and you looked absolutely stunning. I remember thinking back then that you really are something else."
Nadia was completely bewildered. She had almost forgotten about that incident. She didn't expect someone to remember it, and in such an unexpected way, too.
