Chapter 132
As they walked down the hallway toward the living room, Calliope lowered her voice and turned to Conrad.
"What did he just say to you?"
Conrad didn't even glance over, voice flat as ever.
"Said he wants to set me up with some rich lady. Claimed she's loaded and better than you."
Calliope choked on her own breath, momentarily speechless.
She took a deep inhale, then muttered, "Once we're inside, don't bother talking to anyone but my mom. Ignore the rest. I'll fill you in later."
By the time she finished, the two had already arrived at the living room entrance.
The massive space was surprisingly crowded.
Calliope's face darkened instantly.
Eleanor stood up the second she saw them and hurried over, grabbing her daughter's hand and whispering urgently, "Didn't I text you not to come back? I've got this under control!"
