Chapter 153
Conrad strode into the room, dressed in an all-black shirt and slacks, his long legs carrying him quickly through the door.
The old lady craned her neck, eyes darting behind him expectantly.
But there was no one there.
Her face instantly darkened, glaring at him furiously. "Where's my granddaughter-in-law? Didn't you promise to bring her today?"
Conrad's eyes dimmed slightly.
He had planned to bring her.
He wanted to let her meet Ethan, to tell him he was married now.
But then he thought about how maybe her heart wasn't fully his yet. And just like that, he scrapped the idea.
He didn't want to bring her to see someone who meant so much to him-not when she maybe wasn't all in.
"She's busy. Couldn't make it," he said dryly.
"Bullshit!"
Before he could react, the old lady grabbed her mahogany cane and swung it hard at him.
"You brat! Like I don't know you? Bet you bailed last-minute again and left that poor girl hanging!"
