Calliope was shaking with rage.
Just when her knees were about to give out, a warm, steady hand landed on her shoulder.
Conrad had somehow appeared right next to her. He didn't say a word-just let his calm, solid presence and the heat from his touch seep through her clothes, like he was silently telling her: "I've got you."
Jonathan's face twisted with anger when he saw his daughter being shielded by another man.
"So that's how it is, huh? Raise a daughter only for her to turn on her family the second she's married. What a joke."
Rosemary suddenly interjected, her tone cool: "Not every daughter turns out ungrateful. Some things just come down to parenting."
Jonathan jumped on that, voice rising with fury. "Yeah, because her mother spoiled her rotten! No wonder she doesn't respect me at all!"
