As she spoke, she casually waved a hand and called over a nurse.
"The patient's family needs rest. Is the room ready?"
The nurse nodded quickly. "All set, Dr. Grant. It's the VIP Room 3 on the 9th floor."
Charlotte gave a slight nod, then gestured toward the woman in Conrad's arms. "Take this young lady downstairs first."
Just as the nurse was stepping up, Conrad had already turned around, carrying Calliope toward the elevators in long strides.
Charlotte stood there for a beat, a bit surprised, then shoved her hands into her pockets and followed. "Still the same as in the army-cold and indifferent."
Her gaze swept briefly over the unconscious girl in his arms. "But that girl's barely held on for half the night before passing out... she's not exactly built for your kind of pace."
Conrad's tone was flat, giving nothing away. "I know what I'm doing. No need for the reminder."
After a brief pause, he added solemnly, "Thanks for tonight."
