Conrad pulled out another ring from his pocket-same design as the one on her finger, only wider and heavier. He slipped it onto his own finger, calm and unhurried.
"Picked it out yesterday. Originally planned to give it to you last night, but you looked so unwilling... couldn't be bothered."
Calliope pulled a face.
So he noticed she didn't want him moving in, and yet he still did?
She didn't say it out loud, though. Just lowered her head and stared at the ring on her finger.

"I really like it," she said.
"I transferred the bride price to my salary card-grab it when you have time," Conrad added. "Our new place's still under reno. In a couple days, I'll bring you to check it out."
His eyes locked on hers, calm but intense. "Aside from not being able to give you a big wedding, what else do you want?"
