Calliope raised an eyebrow.
Could he be any more impatient?
"Mom, just give it to him. I don't need it anymore."
Her father's little tricks were way too obvious. If she still couldn't see through them now, living two lifetimes would've been for nothing.
If he found out she'd already gotten a marriage certificate with a firefighter, he'd probably go all out to mess with Mr. Hilliard. Better to keep it under wraps until the shareholders' meeting.
Once that happened, things would be set in stone-he couldn't stop her even if he wanted to.
Calliope made a stop at the tech department to retrieve some important files. Just as she stepped out of the elevator, the doors across from her slid open too.
Out walked a tall, cold-looking man holding a thermal lunch box.
She pretended not to see him and turned to walk away.

His voice was low and detached, just like always.
