Chapter 312
The nurse quickly explained, "Dr. Grant said the patient needed a more detailed check-up, so they took her upstairs."
Calliope felt her nerves finally ease. She grabbed Conrad's arm and hurried toward the elevator.
As soon as they reached the upper floor, she spotted her mom being pushed out of a check-up room by Charlotte.
Almost instinctively, Calliope let go of Conrad's hand and rushed forward to the wheelchair. "Mom, how are you feeling?"
Eleanor smiled gently at her daughter. "I'm fine, really. Nothing uncomfortable. I think I'm good to go home."
But Charlotte cut in coolly, "While everything looks great in terms of recovery, I still wouldn't recommend going home to rest."
She paused, eyes shifting to Conrad who had just walked over.
"Let's talk privately."
Conrad's brows pulled together.
Charlotte added, "It's about your mother-in-law's condition."
He turned her down flat. "Just talk to my wife."
"This is something I can only discuss with you," she replied firmly.
