Chapter 433
Calliope Godfrey struggled in the cramped space, muffled sounds escaping her throat.
The lid of the box suddenly flew open. Black Mamba yanked out a knife and drove it into the edge of the box, right by Calliope's face.
The blade quivered, humming in the air, just centimeters from her cheek.
"Make another sound, and you can kiss that face goodbye!" Black Mamba's voice was sharp, cutting through the tension like the blade beside her.
Calliope’s breathing hitched. Her wide eyes stayed locked on the knife trembling near her, and she froze, silent.
Satisfied, Black Mamba slammed the lid shut again.
Time passed—minutes, hours, who knew? Suddenly, the boat lurched violently before coming to a stop.
The box was lifted with no care at all, bumping and jostling as it was carried. After what felt like an eternity, it hit the ground with a jarring thud. Another couple of hours passed before the lid was thrown open once more.
