Julia worked overtime every day with no regard for her health.
If Elaine didn't stay up all night waiting for Julia to return, she wouldn't even see her daughter once in an entire day.
"Alright, I'll go tell Grandpa right now."
Xavier puffed and huffed as he ran upstairs.
When Julia got the call, it was Matthew on the line.
He said her mother had made it clear that if she didn't come back within 30 minutes, Elaine would be personally fetching her.
"Your mom is just worried about you. You didn't come home last night, and she got up a dozen times yesterday. How is anyone supposed to get any sleep like that?"
Matthew's tone sounded like a complaint.
Julia's eyes reddened slightly, but she knew her father wasn't really angry.
He slept soundly by nature. He was the type who could fall asleep instantly, even with the whole family chatting around him and the TV on.
But last night, the couple clearly hadn't slept well, too worried about her.
