Chapter 79
Wendy watched as Selena cried so hard that she could barely breathe. She felt something gently nudge at her icy heart.
"Ms. Lambert, please forgive my mom. She's really changed. Give her another chance, please!" Louisa pleaded softly. She stared at Wendy with big, teary eyes.
Louisa tugged nervously at the hem of Wendy's shirt and rocked it back and first so gently that Wendy's heart almost melted on the spot.
Damn it. Why did Selena have such an adorable daughter?
Wendy cursed under her breath, shot Selena a disdainful glance, and finally sighed. "Alright, stop crying. I won't hold the past against you for the kid's sake. But that doesn't mean I'm ready to be friends again."
Selena snapped her head up. Tears blurred her vision as she stared at Wendy. She couldn't believe her ears. Though Wendy phrased it that way, Selena knew she had forgiven her.
Overwhelmed with joy, she burst into even louder sobs. Passersby glanced their way, curious about what had happened.
