Chapter 11

Logan pondered for a long time and reckoned he should go up to the apartment, but returning empty-handed seemed like a bad idea, considering Winona was still fuming. As such, he decided to head back to his villa to retrieve the necklace he had recently bought at an auction. On his way out, he noticed the box at the threshold of his villa. A brief glance at it told him the handwriting on it was familiar, like he had seen it somewhere before, but the memory eluded him. It was almost midnight. He didn't have time to dwell on such trivial things, so he decided he'd open the box when he returned. Logan swung by a late-night delicatessen and bought Winona's favorite sandwiches and sides. When he arrived outside the apartment, he fished out his key and slid it into the keyhole, turning it twice. However, he couldn't open the door. The motion-sensor lights in the hall flickered on and off. He turned on the flashlight on his phone, only to realize that the lock on the door had been changed.
