Winona's letter consisted of only a few short sentences—"It must've been hard for you to keep up the act for the last two years we were together, but the suffering ends today. I'm returning all your gifts. Goodbye, and may our paths never cross again."
She had left out his lies, pretenses, and schemes in the letter, but to Logan, her words were loaded with bitter, painful accusations.
He couldn't describe how he felt at that moment, but if he had to, he'd say he felt like a sailboat that had lost its way on a stormy sea at night. And if his heart were sails, they were mercilessly whipped and beaten by waves carrying regret and guilt.
