Nicholas turned back to look at Grace, but didn't answer her question. Instead, he asked her one of his own. "Wasn't it someone else who was the director of Sunrise Orphanage before you?"
"The previous director was my grandmother. Do you know her?"
Grace looked at Nicholas a few more times, curious how someone her age could have known her grandmother.
"I knew her. She held me in her arms when I was little."
Nicholas took a deep breath, smiling before asking, "Did she retire?"
"She passed away three years ago." Grace's expression instantly became sombre.
