Nicholas stared at his phone, finally beginning to piece things together.
Zoe hadn't meant a package. She meant a parcel of land.
He'd completely misunderstood.
In his defense, scams were rampant these days. When he got the call, he assumed it was just another fake delivery scam. He had no idea she was actually talking about a parcel of land.
"Mr. Jakeman, just to be clear, I was instructed to transfer a parcel of land to your name. But when you told me to handle it however I saw fit, I double-checked with the person who arranged it, and we decided to put it up for auction," Zoe said.
She took a deep breath. She finally understood how this massive mix-up happened.
"I did get a text a while back," Nicholas said, his eyes briefly widening in surprise. "It said a parcel of land under my name was up for auction in Ventoa. So it was real?"
