After hanging up, Julian gripped the steering wheel and drove aimlessly through the streets. Neon lights from the city streets slid across the windshield and washed over his face. The shadows and colors cast across his face made it hard to read his expression. When his car passed by the prison on the outskirts, his chest tightened, and he instinctively slammed on the brakes.
