Chapter 16
Stephen gazed intently at Natania from far across the garden, as though he wanted to carve the very image of her into his mind. His eyes were filled with tender affection.
However, Natania merely returned his gaze calmly. The love and pain that once plagued her were now gone, leaving only apathy behind.
She nonchalantly shut the curtains so she didn't have to look at that disgusting face any longer.
A short while later, a housekeeper hurried over. "Ms. Wendell, one Mr. Fost is outside the gates, saying that he wants to see you."
Natania answered indifferently, "I don't want to see him. Tell him to leave."
The housekeeper nodded and left, not bringing him up again. Hence, Natania pushed the matter to the back of her mind.
Later in the evening, it started to rain once more. Having woken up from his nap, Benjamin felt much better and was back to his old energetic self again.
