Chapter 6

Natania sat at the dining table, but the warm and delicious breakfast tasted like wax in her mouth. Scenes of Stephen's thoughtful gentleness and Rosalie's provocations kept playing in her mind, making her lose her appetite. She spun on her heel, headed upstairs, and began to pack her belongings. This villa held too many of their memories, so she had to let go of every last bit of it personally. Rosalie suddenly appeared behind her. "Ms. Wendell, you sure do know how to hold your temper. Andy is the future heir to the Fost family, while I'm the mother of that heir. There's no place for you here." Natania raised her head and gave her a small smile. Her calm reaction sent Rosalie off kilter, and she was somewhat at a loss for what to do. She frowned and said, "I know you don't want to divorce Stephen, but you can't be so selfish as to cling on to the title of Mrs. Fost, right? The Fost family has never been able to accept a woman who can't even bear children." Natania scoffed, her eyes shining with mockery. "The title of Mrs. Fost? If you like it so much, then you can have it." With that said, she took out the divorce agreement from her bag and held it out to Rosalie. "You know how Stephen feels about me, so getting him to agree to the divorce won't be easy. I'm handing you the divorce papers now. If you're so capable, then have him sign it before returning it to me. If you can't do that, then be prepared to be a mistress for the rest of your life, with no status to your name!" Rosalie's face lit up with delight as she snatched the papers. When she saw that Natania had already signed the forms, a searching look appeared in her eyes. "Are you really willing to leave Stephen?" Natania's heart skipped a beat. Considering that loving Stephen had consumed more than half her life, she couldn't possibly pretend to be indifferent to the thought of leaving him. Slowly shutting her eyes, she fought to suppress the raging emotions surging within her. When she opened her eyes again, all that was left was placid calmness. "I won't lower myself to the point of fighting another woman for a man!" She could risk her life for Stephen's sake, but the one thing she wouldn't tolerate was betrayal. Rosalie scoffed, clearly thinking that Natania was just putting on a stubborn act. Nonetheless, she still left with the divorce agreement. Natania stared into her closet, which was practically bursting with all the gifts Stephen had ever given her. In stark contrast, she felt empty inside. She gathered her belongings—clothes, ID, and other essential items—and packed them all into her suitcase, not leaving anything behind. As for the presents, she also packed them all up, but it was so that someone else could send them off to be auctioned. Since she had decided to leave, she needed to sever all ties with him completely. The housekeepers shot her furtive glances from where they were hiding close by. They quietly asked each other what was going on. Regardless, Natania couldn't be bothered to explain the situation to them. By the time she finished packing everything, it was already the afternoon. She grabbed her suitcase and headed to the living room, where she sat down to rest while waiting for Sophia to pick her up. It was only then that Natania recalled that she hadn't seen Andrew at all that day. She wondered if he had truly been sent away already. Just as she was filled with confusion, Stephen rushed into the house with Rosalie and Marissa following closely behind him. "Mrs. Fost, please tell me where Andy is!" Rosalie lunged toward her, crying. She grabbed Natania's arm and shook it violently. The sudden impact caused Natania to stumble back a few steps. She accidentally bumped into the corner of the table, sending a sharp surge of pain through her. Gasping at the pain, she asked, "Have you gone mad? What nonsense are you spouting? How would I know where he is?" To her surprise, Rosalie's crying intensified, and she even grabbed the fruit knife on the dining table and held it against Natania's neck. "Mrs. Fost, I know you don't like Andy, but you still shouldn't have gone behind Mr. Fost's back to send him away! Give Andy back to me!"
