Chapter 15

Jason's pov : My eyes froze at her and I shamelessly stared at Lia with wide eyes. She narrowed her eyes at Emily and opened her mouth to say something but I was pretty sure she wouldn't say, she would punch her or maybe slap her for judging her. Lia was good at beating people and I loved seeing her slapping and punching people. Perhaps I was being a jerk to like stupid things but I loved it. I loved to see her boldness and confident smile. She always lets her actions speak rather than her words and that's what makes her bold. "Emily, who…" she opened her mouth and here I was again wrong about her, Emily didn't wait for her to finish her words, she just left the spot so quickly. I cleared my throat, "ahem! you didn't tell me that it was our first date. Otherwise, I would have been prepared, you know bringing flowers and gifts and all," I shrugged and stifled my giggle. She started serving the food on her plate after rolling her eyes, "you know what, I need to reconsider about my project partner," she retorted with a mouthful of shrimp tacos. "No, no! Kidding, kidding, girl! Don't be serious like this always, laughing is also good exercise," I gulped down a spoon of soup, and ate the chicken noodles, "hmm, appetizing…!" "Yeah, it is! You should try these fries, I bet no one can make it as this chef," she passed me sweet potato fries. I could see that she loved the food and was eating like she was starving for two days. I took one hesitantly but after gnawing on it, I realized it was also delicious so I took some more. After finishing our lunch, we had a banter about paying but she insisted on splitting the bills, maybe she was thinking that if I would pay, I would feel like it was a date. Well, if I would date her, and she would pay the bills, I wouldn't mind. It's not the rule that a boy should always pay the bills, if a girl deliberately wants to pay, it's fine. However, I should pay if I'm dating her, as far as I can tell she is not rich but she… I arrived home, my thoughts and my bike got the break. My lips curved into a smile when I felt how idiotic I was! I was thinking about dating her while I don't even know if she considered me as a friend or not. I need to initiate it with a friendship, she has got something which no one can even think about, she is so different. Thinking about her spontaneously brings "Hey, Jay! You arrived so early, didn't you go somewhere with your buddies today? You hang out almost daily, right?" Barbie asked when I entered the house. Thank God! I have Barbie with whom I can share everything without any puzzlement. "Barbie, I'm going upstairs to take a quick shower, and I've some news for you," I winked at her and strolled towards my room. "Why don't you start doing journalism dude?" She shouted while giggling. "I have to learn business because I should help dad," I yelled and closed the door of my room. After taking shower, I opened my great wardrobe, and after twenty seconds, I put on a grey t-shirt and black cargo shorts. My favourite colour changes per week and sometimes, twice or thrice a week. So, I've almost every colour in my closet but black is something I can never get bored with. I dried my hair and went to the hallway where Barbie must be waiting for me with some snacks and coffee but today, my stomach doesn't have an empty place at all. I never tried Mrs. Fennimore's food, perhaps due to Mrs. Casano, I don't like anything or anyone related to her but I never disrespected Mrs. Fennimore, she seems like a good person. "You better learn to take quick showers, I've been waiting here for the past one and a half hours." She scowled and put the magazine on the table. "Anyways, what's the news?" Barbie inquired eagerly as soon as she noticed my grin, she is impatient when I want to share something with her. "Cool, man! Just have some patience," I took a seat, "guess what I got?" I beamed and put my finger on the chin. She didn't bother to think, "Lia has forgiven you, right?" How could I forget she is my elder sister and knows me better than anybody else in the world? "Huh, yeah! How can you always guess the right thing?" I pouted. "Who is an elder sibling? Who is more mature?" She raised her brows and took a sip of cappuccino. Sometimes being a younger brother sucks, I guess all the younger brothers of the world would have one regret if they would have come into the world before their sister, their life could be easier And happier. "Being a younger brother already gives you so many benefits even though you don't like it, silly boy!" She muttered and winked at me. I grimaced in annoyance, "just one benefit that I can always come to you whenever I need any help or advice or permission from dad for a huge thing," and we both chuckled. "I got one more thing, guess what?" I smirked and wiggled my brows. For the very first time, her face had a perplexed expression and I was enjoying this face but it changed so quickly, "what? Are you guys dating?" Her eyes wide opened, she was flabbergasted. "First of all, no! She is not my type," I waved her off and snickered. "You are not her type, bro! Why don't you accept that you like her but she is different, she is not interested in you? She seems a lot like me, I think, I should meet her and be friends with her," her eyes lit up as she uttered the last sentence. Today is not my day, I'm explaining this one thing to everyone since morning that I don't like her. "I don't like her, I don't know why you guys aren't trying to get one simple thing that I...DON'T... LIKE... HER…" I paused between each word to make it clear. "Oh, my my! I'm not the only one who feels that you are attracted to her, who told you the same thing?" Barbie finished her coffee and gestured to me to take the sandwich. "I'm full, today! Now, before you ask me one more question, let me tell you everything! Today, in the morning, Lia came into my class and asked me to meet at the restaurant. And for your kind information," I plastered a mischievous smile on my face, "both of us didn't know till this morning that we are in the same school." She intervened, "Woah! What a great coincidence! What did she say? How was your first date?" I would have explained everything in one shot if she would have some patience. She needed to learn patience, pitying her future boyfriend. "It wasn't a date, we split the bills for our lunch, okay...? Our teacher has given us an assignment, and we have to collaborate, uh…, I'm her senior, she is my junior, just one grade difference! We ate at her workplace and discussed the project. That's it!" "Okay, okay! Chill! Now, tell me who said that you like her, hmm?" She put her face on the table and her hand on her chin. I huffed, "Who else? George, Theo, and Alex." I made a puppy face, "actually, there was a scene in the class. When she was leaving my classroom, some girls made comments that how could she be my girlfriend? Then, she-" She again cut me off, "I know what she would have done ahead, she must have said that she doesn't need to explain anything to anybody, right?" And here I had no wonder why she is always right. "Yeah, my dear sister! You are absolutely right! She handled those girls very bravely and everyone gave her applause and my boys were amazed to see her boldness. So they were also teasing me like you," I shook my head in disbelief and bounced my arms into the air. My lips weren't cooperating with my mind, I was thinking about her. Her grimace, her smile, everything was real, she was real, not fake like other girls who throw themselves upon me. Although I wasn't ready to accept that I like her because we are so different. I never came across a beautifully bold girl, there was something very special about her that made me feel attracted towards her and think about her more than I could imagine. Anyways, we are project partners now so I will have a better chance of knowing about her and being friends with her. I was more than excited to work with her. It will be a great project for sure.
