Chapter 22
Hank didn't hang around. He grabbed his coat and walked out the door.
"I want every photo of Irene and Chloe from the day they were born. All of them. Not a single one missing.", ordered Hank.
Sitting alone in the massive office, Hank's mind drifted back to sixteen years ago. He was only ten, visiting the Hudsons when someone pushed him into the pool as a prank.
He couldn't swim. For a moment, he truly thought he was done for. But just as things started to go black, he saw a little mermaid.
Her long black hair floated through the water, and those nervous almond-shaped eyes—it was an image he'd never forget.
The little mermaid grabbed his wrist and slowly pulled him toward the edge of the pool.
"You okay?" Her voice was soft, laced with worry.
Coughing and spitting out pool water, he finally managed a response.
"Thanks. What's your name?" He hadn't seen her earlier when he greeted the Hudsons. Was she maybe one of the staff's kids?
