Chapter 4
While Ethan was in the bathroom, I took out the abortion pills I had prepared earlier, gritted my teeth, and swallowed them.
Then I rushed straight to the VIP ward in the inpatient area—and sure enough, Chloe was there.
“You bitch, how dare you come here?” Chloe snapped.
She was already angry about the slap I had given her earlier, and when she saw me standing at the ward door, she stood up suddenly.
I stood at the door with my pregnant belly, glancing at the little boy lying on the hospital bed.
“What a poor child—having a mother who’s willing to be someone's mistress, he really has a terrible fate,” I said.
Now that I had completely given up on Ethan, I had no more weaknesses—and I wouldn’t let Chloe, this mistress, bully me anymore.
“You’re crazy! How dare you come here and make a scene!” Chloe said through gritted teeth, her eyes fierce as if she wanted to devour me alive.
“Am I not telling the truth? You saw it just now—Ethan treats you like a treasure in private, but in front of me, he won’t even look at you properly,” I said.
“The child in my belly is from the Carter family; he’ll take Ethan’s last name. Everyone will know he’s Ethan’s son.”
“Chloe, you’re just a toy for Ethan to pass the time when he's bored. He’ll never marry you,” I added.
That sentence ignited Chloe immediately. She screamed, completely ignoring the child lying beside her.
“You slut! Say that again, and I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
Watching her become so hysterical, I let out a cold laugh.
“Everyone calls me Mrs. Carter—what are you? Just the mistress my husband found outside. How can you be sure he won’t find a fourth, fifth... woman later?”
Chloe completely lost her mind. She grabbed my hair and slammed my head against the wall hard.
“I’m not a mistress! Ethan loves me! What do you know, you slut!”
Blood trickled down my forehead, but I didn’t feel the least bit scared. Instead, I kept provoking her.
“On Ethan’s official marriage records, I’m his legal spouse. You’re nothing to him,” I said.
Chloe pushed me hard. I stumbled backward and fell to the ground.
A sharp pain shot through my abdomen, and I felt a warm sensation between my legs.
When I looked down, I saw blood streaming down my legs.
But I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Chloe, you’ll never get the man you love,” I said.
