Chapter 14

"What are you wearing, such an eyesore? You'd look better without those rags. Strip them off. You'll look better naked, ha-ha..." Harsh words pierced into Madeleine's ears. She felt that the people before her were much dirtier than the clothes she was wearing. "Enough with the chattering. Let's go and wish Abigail a happy birthday." Someone softly reminded. Upon hearing this, everyone shifted their attention to Abigail and walked towards her to celebrate her birthday. Abigail, surrounded by the crowd, yet turned her focus on Madeleine. She smiled and said, "Madeleine, today is your birthday too, isn't it?" Upon hearing these words, Madeleine lowered her head but didn't respond. Spotting this, Charlotte stepped forward and pushed Madeleine mockingly, "Abigail is talking to you... What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" Caught off guard, Madeleine stumbled backward into the arms of a man standing behind her. "Look at that, James's first love is falling into his arms!" Someone in the crowd jeered at this sight. "James, didn't you used to like Madeleine in high school? She'll do anything for money now." "Exactly, go ahead and pay her. Fulfill your dream. Ha-ha..." Suddenly, a few people started to joke around about James. James cast a disgusted glance at Madeleine and retorted, "Stop talking nonsense. I never liked her. Don't make me sick." Upon hearing this, Madeleine's expression remained unconcerned, as she had long grown accustomed to ridicule. She also knew that these so-called classmates before her were nothing but scoundrels. And now, James, who had been pursuing her since freshman year, despised her. He was now following these evil people and joining in bullying and mocking her. What a ridiculous scene. Clinton merely watched the relentless bullying of Madeleine without uttering a word. He approached Abigail, speaking gently, "Madeleine is here now, so could we return to the hospital?" Abigail nodded her head, a satisfied smile appearing on her face. She outstretched her arm towards Clinton and cooed, "Then, carry me." "Alright, I'll carry you to the hospital." Clinton appeased her as he lifted her in his arms. Madeleine watched as Clinton carried Abigail out of the room. She desired to leave as well but was stopped inside the room by Charlotte and a few rich guys. "Madeleine, don't go! We haven't caught up in so many years." One of the rich guys looked at her with a wicked smile on his face. Only then did Madeleine realize, this wasn't Abigail's birthday banquet, it was her hell. Clinton had forced her to come here merely to coax Abigail back to the hospital. As long as he could coax Abigail, he couldn't care less about what happened to her, even if she was toyed with by these villains until death. "Move away, let me go..." she rasped. "Where are you running off to? We haven't even started having fun and you're leaving, you're such a buzzkill!" "Here's the deal, if you finish this bottle of wine, I'll let you go." One of the rich guys yanked Madeleine over to the table, pointing out the bottle of liquor on there, "Finish this, and I'll let you go." At this, James interposed, "Hey, this is a bit too much, don't you think?" "Damn it, James! I haven't even done anything, and you're already worried about her!" "You just said you didn't like her, always stubborn to the end." "If you do like her, just say it! I'll make your fantasies happen and let you have her." "But then again, I've heard she's been messing around with a lot of men. I don't know if she's got STD. You'd better be careful! Ha-ha..." Faced with the mocking, James instantly fell silent. Seeing the situation, Madeleine quickly pushed away the person blocking her, wanting to escape. Charlotte signaled to the person next to her to grab Madeleine, then picked up a bottle of wine from the table and poured it over Madeleine's head. Within moments, Madeleine's clothes were soaked in liquor. "Damn, Madeleine is sexy, seems like a skinny rack of bones, but didn't expect her to have quite big breasts." As her clothes were soaked through, the men in the room started to make dirty jokes about Madeleine and immoderately started to touch her. Madeleine stood motionless, swiftly grabbed the bottle of liquor from Charlotte's hand, and smashed it on her own head. There was a loud bang, the glass bottle shattered, blood gushing from Madeleine's forehead, sliding down her cheeks, and dripping from her chin. The sight was so shocking and horrifying that it gave anyone pause. The originally noisy room suddenly fell silent. With a hoarse voice and blood-red eyes, Madeleine asked, "Is this enough?" No one answered. They just watched her insane actions, thinking she must have gone mad. Madeleine sneered, her voice blandly saying, "Since you're not saying anything, I guess it's not enough yet!" No sooner had her words fallen than she picked up another empty bottle from the table and lifted it to smash on her head!
