Chapter 32
Tristan was so terrified that he stumbled backward and fell to the ground. My cleaver was meant to strike his head, but his fall caused me to miss.
The cleaver clattered onto the stone threshold with a heavy thud, leaving a wide crack in it.
I pulled it out with force and ran after Tristan again.
He was shaking with fear. He was crawling around on the ground like a dog and trying desperately to get away from me.
"Hey, Luca, we can talk it out. Don't kill me, please. I don't want money anymore, I swear!"
At that moment, I felt a surge of adrenaline. I wasn't just scaring Tristan. I truly had the urge and resolve to end him right there.
My father, who had been sitting silently next to my mom's urn, finally stood up. He rushed to me and grabbed my shoulder.
"Let go."
I didn't know what was wrong, but even my dad couldn't stop me. I forced myself free and ran toward Tristan again.
"I was wrong! I'm sorry!"
