Chapter 102

James' face turned cold. "Don't bring her up again." Hearing the disgust in his voice, Jenna nodded and turned away, lowering her head to hide the faint smile tugging at the corner of her lips. Freddy glanced at the rearview mirror from the driver's seat, a chill creeping through him. Why did James believe everything Jenna said so easily? Meanwhile, as soon as Wendy got in the car, Elias spoke up with a trace of annoyance. "Wendy, what's going on with you? Why have you been so irritated lately? I was trying to defend you just now, yet you blamed me instead?" Though his tone wasn't outright accusatory, it was still unpleasant to hear. Wendy kept her eyes on the road ahead and said nothing. "From the looks of it, Jenna seems pretty sensible. She's not as scheming as you made her out to be. If it weren't for her, I'd probably still be arguing with James right now." Elias looked away, his voice tinged with pettiness. It was as if he were sulking, like Wendy had somehow let him down.
