Chapter 117
Zelda was carefully wiping the tears from Ethan's face when she heard a sound. She turned around and saw Jenna, who looked anxious.
"Ms. Sanders, you're here. Oh dear, I was so focused on calming Ethan down, I forgot to let you know that he's already asleep."
Zelda stood up and gently stepped out of Ethan's room, closing the door behind her.
The room could be seen through the small glass pane on the door, bathed in the soft glow of a nightlight. Ethan's sleeping face looked peaceful.
Jenna's expression shifted slightly as she looked inside. She frowned and asked, "When did he fall asleep?"
Zelda gestured for her to be quiet and led her to the stairway before speaking. "It's been about 20 minutes. I'm sorry you made the trip for nothing, Ms. Sanders."
