"Jenna, Grandpa's just getting older. His temper's been harder to manage—don't take it personally."
James's voice snapped Jenna out of her thoughts. She turned to him and forced a soft smile, though her eyes still shimmered with a trace of hurt.
"I understand. I don't blame Mr. Frank Senior, and I don't blame my sister either. I just didn't do a good enough job."
The moment Wendy's name came up, James's expression darkened.
Jenna looked at him sweetly and asked in a delicate voice, "James, if I had married you instead, do you think Mr. Frank Senior would've liked me more?"
He turned his head to glance at her, guilt slowly creeping into his expression.
