Chapter 86
Wendy quickly got to her feet and retreated two steps as though trying to avoid the plague. She put as much distance as possible between herself and James.
James stood up as well, blocking the only exit.
"How many times have I had to ask you to come home? My patience is limited. Don't think too highly of yourself. Just because you're not in the house doesn't mean everything falls apart," he jeered.
"I never said that." She sneered, her lips curling with sarcasm. "It's you who said that. You're the one asking me to come home."
His expression darkened, and he stepped closer, one step at a time. "I never knew you could talk like this."
She slowly backed away until her back was pressed against the wall.
"I've always been this way. You just never noticed."
"You've always been this way?" James gritted his teeth, his tone sharp. "Who knows you better? Liam? You haven't even gotten the divorce certificate yet. How far have you two gone?"
