Chapter 7

Thankfully, Hazel didn't have the final say. So now, every pair of eyes turned to Cameron, waiting for him to decide whether Simone would be punished or spared. He looked at her with what appeared to be deep pain. "Mona, why would you do this? "I've told you again and again, Sylvia's baby isn't mine. There's nothing between us. We've done nothing wrong. Why can't you just believe me?" He paused for a moment, and the sadness in his eyes gradually turned cold. "Mona, I want to defend you, I really do. But you've let me down too badly. After everything you've done, if I don't punish you, then I'm dishonoring Caleb!" Then, his voice rang out, clear and cruel. "Take her down! Draw her blood for the transfusion! However much Sylvia needs, take it from her!" The moment the words left his mouth, several people grabbed Simone and forced her toward the back. She struggled and started crying. Her voice was breaking as she said, "It wasn't me! I didn't push her! She fell on her own! "Cameron! When you proposed to me, didn't you promise you'd believe me no matter what? That no matter what happened, you'd protect me without hesitation? "I'm telling you the truth. I didn't do this. I've been framed. You really don't believe me?" Her voice grew hoarse from screaming. She was sobbing so hard she felt her lungs might give out. But Cameron didn't even look her way. He didn't believe she was innocent. And he had no intention of protecting her. The tears had long since run dry, but Simone could feel her heart bleeding. She was pinned to the hospital bed, and a thick needle was plunged into her arm. Her entire body trembled with pain as the blood began to flow. 200 milliliters. 400 milliliters. 600 milliliters. ... With each draw, her body grew colder. The warmth left her skin, and a chill crept into her bones. Everything around her felt eerily quiet, as if the world had shut her out completely. She was so cold and so alone. Her mind began to drift, pulling her back to those lonely childhood years when she had no one. Sylvia had come to play her twisted "games". Her father had dragged out his belt, ready to punish her. Her little brother had smashed toys against her head. And her mother had scolded her endlessly, always telling her to let her brother have his way. Sylvia had their father's love, and their brother had their mother's. They all had someone, somewhere to belong. But Simone? She had always been the invisible one, floating quietly in a home that never felt like home. She once believed that marriage would change everything. She thought her husband would stand by her, believe in her, protect her, and finally give her the sense of safety she had never known. But now, the man who had sworn to never let her stand alone had personally dragged her into hell. In the end, despite the rush and the transfusion, Sylvia still lost the baby. "Cameron, our baby is gone," Sylvia cried as she collapsed into his arms. Her eyes were swollen from crying. "You promised me. You said you'd protect our child. So why is he gone?" Cameron's face twisted with guilt. He looked shaken and even tormented. But after a long moment, he gently pried Sylvia away from him. "Sylvia, that's not right," he said quietly. "It wasn't our baby. The child was yours and Caleb's."
