I glanced around the room, searching for a place to put the roses while he talked to his brother. There was a lot of space, but I decided to place it on the bedside table I didn’t use. That way when I open my eyes it would be the first thing I’d see in the morning.
“Mason is going to be late,” Nate said softly.
“Is it because of your mother?”
His eyes snapped over to me. “You’ve met her?”
“When Mason was escorting me back to my room we ran into her,” I told him. “She doesn’t like humans, does she?”

It was the same thing Mason had said about her.
Holding out his hand towards me, Nate gave me a small smile. “Dinner is probably already cold, but I can send someone to heat it up. Let’s go.”
I slipped my hand into his and allowed him to lead me over to a door on the right side of the room. It was locked the last time I tried to open it so it came as a surprise when the door swung open the moment Nate turned the handle.
“Wow,” I breathed.
The room was bigger than mine. It had its own sitting room where a table had been set with candles and everything. The bed covers had been pulled back and rose petals covered the floor around the bed.
“The rose petals were Mason’s idea,” Nate said softly. “He didn’t feel comfortable with lighting candles.”
“I like it,” I told him.
“You must be starving.” He led me over to the table and pulled out a chair for me. “Do you want me to heat up the food?”
“It still looked warm enough.”
“Okay. Why don’t you start eating, and I’ll just go have a quick shower.” He sniffed at his armpit. “I kind of stink.”
“I don’t smell anything,” I muttered.
“You will once I get you under me.”
Color flooded my cheeks.
Nate pressed a kiss to the top of my head and then hurried into the bathroom. He didn’t bother closing the door which wasn’t such a big deal since I had seen him naked at the cabin.

Pulling my thoughts away from the gutter, I pulled the covers of the food and filled a plate with a little of everything. I had just finished the carrots when the water in the bathroom shut off.
