Chapter 40 Ansel's Towel
Gardenia felt a chill creep up from the soles of her feet. Ansel, who was in the bathroom, had clearly heard Juliet's voice and turned off the water.
A moment ago, she'd still clung to the hope that he might not have caught their conversation. But now? There was no doubt he'd heard every word.
The worst part was, she couldn't even warn Juliet. She couldn't just walk up and tell Juliet that Ansel was in the master bedroom—fresh out of the shower, no less.
"Ms. Anderson, I have a terrible headache. I can't do anything today."
Surely she would understand that hint!
"What perfect timing for a headache!" Juliet persisted, unwilling to give up. Since she couldn't stay in the country any longer, today was her only chance.
"Just open the door. I'm not asking you to do anything strenuous. All you have to do is take a glass of water to Ansel in the guest room. Then, you can go straight back to bed, alright?"
