The next day, Joshua was forced by Colman Group's board of directors to hold a press conference. He stepped onto the stage. When he mentioned Marissa, his gaze was full of tenderness and regret.
"Marissa was never my mistress. She was my first love, and she was also my fiancée before I married Roxanne. I was the one who cheated on her, and I feel deeply apologetic for doing that to her.
"As for Roxanne, we've already separated and are getting a divorce. She only accused Marissa of all that out of jealousy. If Marissa demands any form of financial compensation, I'm more than happy to oblige."
He paused and continued, "Finally, if anyone continues to spread rumors about Marissa and me, then I'll be taking legal action with zero hesitation."
Marissa looked at him, feeling like a weight had been lifted off her chest. It was the best explanation he could have given that saved Marissa's reputation while keeping him accountable.
