Silas brought Bethany back to the spacious apartment he lived in. He took off his jacket and tossed it onto the couch. Then, he plopped himself down and rolled up his sleeves. "Let's talk."
Bethany also sat, deliberately choosing the seat farthest from him.
Silas almost laughed in disbelief. "What, are you afraid I'll lay a hand on you? I don't hit women.
"You were the one who walked into the wrong private room that day. You were also the one who proposed to me.
"My family was breathing down my neck, so I agreed. Yet, now, you want a divorce. Care to explain yourself?"
Bethany sighed inwardly. "I wasn't proposing to you that day, Mr. Brennan. I thought you were Cyrus Brannon, the second son of the Brannon family. This was all a misunderstanding.
"I need to marry him to get what I want. We've only been married for two days. I'm sure a divorce won't affect you."
