Bethany was startled by Silas' question and started coughing violently. Though, the harder she coughed, the redder her face became.
Silas pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and tried to offer it to her, but Betahny slapped it away.
Silas paused slightly, and the smile on his lips gradually faded.
Realizing she had overreacted, Bethany quickly apologized. "Sorry, I didn't mean to do that."
"It's fine," Silas said with a calm gaze. "I get it. Anyone would feel weird after being kissed by a gay man. But don't worry. I get a full checkup done every year. I'm healthy and safe, so you don't have to look at me like that."
Bethany was rendered speechless. She was about to explain herself, but Silas stepped on the gas and drove out of the nursing home.
