Knox's POV
I looked down at Cole again.
“I don’t know if you like it,” he mumbled, “Aunt Lena made it. She said I should tell you to eat it while it’s warm.”
Something cracked inside me.
“Thank you,” I said hoarsely.
I took the plate from him carefully, giving him a small genuine smile.
Cole gave me a shy smile in response. I was about to step back inside when his voice stopped me.
“The pack needs the Luna,” he said suddenly, his voice was quiet, but it echoed loudly in my ears. “But… they also need you.”
I turned to look at him again, surprised by the depth of his words.
“You can’t find her if you destroy yourself,” he continued. “The Luna needs you to be strong, and to be at your best.”
There was a long silence after his words.
I stared at him, completely shocked. This was a young boy of seven years, yet he had just said something that very few adults in the pack could dare to say to my face.
“How did you get so smart?” I asked, my voice rough.
