Janet's expression darkened slightly as she rolled her eyes at Sierra. "Such a suck-up. Always trying to please Edward."
Sophie overheard her, and a flash of agreement crossed her eyes. She looked up and asked, "Aunt Sierra, did you only buy clothes for Mr. Gray Senior?"
When Sierra looked over, she showed a look of disappointment. "I thought we'd get something too."
Sierra caught the hint of insinuation in her words and felt a flicker of irritation. "What's their problem today?" she wondered. "Are they deliberately trying to make things difficult for her?"
"If you want something, ask Benson," she replied coolly. "I may be your aunt, but I'm not obligated to buy you gifts."
Sophie's face flushed red. She wanted to snap back but couldn't find the right words. To make matters worse, Benson kept sneaking glances at Sierra, which only made her stomach churn with anger.
They stayed with Edward until 11:00 pm, sharing a meal of ravioli before retiring to their rooms.
