Chapter 22 Taken Away

Evelyn's expression instantly darkened at Ian's words. In that instant, viciousness twisted her features. Her previous gentle and considerate demeanor vanished completely, replaced by malice and bitter resentment. Since the game was up, she might as well pull out all the stops. "No! You can't do this to me! I once lost a baby because of you! You said that you would never allow me to suffer any injustice, no matter what happened!" She broke down into tears and crawled pitifully up to Ian's feet, begging unendingly. But before Ian could speak, Clarissa, who was standing to the side, said disdainfully, "Sophia has heard such promises far more often than you. I assumed you were a highly conniving woman, yet you turned out to be nothing but a hypocritical idiot." Ian's heart ached. That was right. He had promised Sophia more than once that he would never allow her to be hurt or wronged and that he would protect her for life. Yet, he had gone back on his word. Evelyn was dragged away
