Chapter 212
Louise drove aimlessly through the streets, her fingers gripping the steering wheel tighter than necessary. Before long, she pulled into a bar without even thinking twice.
"Hey, boss, isn't that Ms. Bennett?" Robert's secretary was at the wheel, her eyes catching the familiar figure heading into the bar.
From the back seat, Robert leaned forward and rolled down the window. Under the streetlight, Louise's face stood out-it was hard to miss.
"You can head back. No need to pick me up tomorrow," he said as the car came to a stop. Robert got out, ignored the cold, and followed her.
The driver slumped over the wheel, watching his usually stoic boss showing... emotion? "Great, looks like the boss has a thing for a married woman."
Normally, Robert had the vibe of a monk-clean-living, no desire, made people think twice about even joking around him. But now? He suddenly seemed... human. And of all people, he fell for her.
The secretary was still processing that weird development, silently hoping
