Everyone cracked up at Oliver Brooks’ expression and finally let loose, laughing out loud.
The main instigator, Michael Jarvis, thoughtfully handed him a tissue and said softly, “If it’s that nasty, just spit it out. Ninth Master’s darling doesn’t need to suffer like this.”
Their laughter just grew louder. Oliver finally lost it, spat the chunk of donkey meat into the napkin, shot Michael a deadly glare, and snapped, “Get the hell outta here!”
Even after spitting it out, he kept making noises trying to clear his mouth. That stuff was just vile — downright disgusting and sticky enough to get stuck between his teeth.
Louise Bennett was leaning over the table, clutching her stomach from laughing too hard. All the tension she had felt earlier? Gone in an instant.
Oliver picked up his chair and scooted it a bit away from Michael, clearly expressing that he wanted no part in whatever mess he had stirred up.
