"I would've simply stayed with you. If anyone tried to get in my way, I would've taken care of them," Brian said slowly. Despite his calm tone, the look in his eyes grew increasingly unhinged. Chloe pursed her lips. During their time together, she'd almost forgotten that he was the head of the Steele family, the one man in Corvessia no one dared to cross. "Let's go somewhere else," she said. "Then let's go back to the apartment. I've already set everything up. The only thing missing is you," Brian said. "The apartment?" Chloe frowned. "What? You don't want to? You just promised to keep me company," he said. "No, let's go," she said, leading the way out of the bar. Brian followed behind her. They got in the car and arrived at the apartment where they used to live together. When Chloe walked in, she saw that the place had indeed been decorated. There were colorful balloons, streamers, and various birthday party decorations. Hanging from the streamers were photos of the two of t
