Chapter 23

Cecily stood paralyzed as the car sped toward her. Clyde and Andrew saw it and immediately lunged forward, trying to pull her to safety. "Cece, get out of the way!" Andrew, who was closest, grabbed Cecily and yanked her aside. But the car was moving too fast and struck them despite their efforts. He shielded her as they were thrown sideways, tumbling until they finally came to a stop. Her head slammed into the edge of a flowerbed. Andrew, still holding Cecily in his arms, had his legs struck by the car and his arms injured from the fall. Ignoring the pain, he quickly checked on her. When he saw the blood from her head wound and realized she was unconscious, he immediately shouted to those nearby, "Call an ambulance!" Clyde rushed over, trying to assess Cecily's condition, but Andrew shoved him away with what little strength he had left. "You should take a look at what Isabel did instead!" Andrew roared. Earlier, when he held Cecily, he had seen Isabel behind the wheel of the car
