Chapter 426
When William rushed over, he bumped into Heather at the door.
She gave him a look full of mixed emotions but didn’t say a word—it was Chloe’s idea.
William was soaked through. He wiped his face and asked, “Is Chloe okay?”
Heather couldn’t hold it in anymore and shot back sarcastically, “Is Olivia okay?”
He had no clue he’d been caught and replied casually, “Yeah, she’s fine.”
Heather’s voice carried a subtle sting. “Well, that’s great. If she’s okay, then Chloe can stop worrying, huh? William, Chloe's trying to rest... Maybe you'd be better off taking a breather somewhere else. No need to disturb her.”
William ignored her and pushed the door open.
Chloe lay quietly in the hospital bed. She was very much awake—just didn’t want to talk to him. As soon as he came in, she shut her eyes and pulled the blanket higher to cover part of her face.
After a while, William sat beside her, reaching out like he wanted to touch her cheek, but she gently dodged him.
